Joel's Strangest Dream

to Ed McCurdy's tune "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream"

Last night I had the strangest dream I never dreamed before.
The Pentagon had disappeared and there'd be no more war.
We were released and jobs and peace and education thrived.
An economy for you and me.  It was great to be alive.

But now we're asked to pay our taxes, but we know where it goes.
It's hard to love with arms of death, as everybody knows.
Don't pay your funds for bombs and guns and give your sons away
To the multi-national companies deciding what you pay.

'Cause there's a war now going on.  Just take a look around.
When CEOs get higher pay the workforce is cut down,
And when Wall Street has a record day school lunches face the ax.
When profits grow as arms sales flow you've paid it with your tax.

This tax on you is a tax on life.  It's a tax on being free.
It kills the old.  It maims the young.  What can the answer be?
Withhold your money!  Raise your voice!
It's your world.  It's your country.
Our future lives within your choice,
Peace and jobs for you and me.

Last night I had the strangest dream I never dreamed before.
The Pentagon had disappeared and there'd be no more war.
We were released and jobs and peace and education thrived.
An economy for you and me.  It was great to be alive.

Last night I had the strangest dream I never dreamed before.
The Pentagon had disappeared and there'd be no more war.
It's what I'm living for,
That there'll be no more war.
