Just Say No!

They stand upon a well lit stage, though we’re standing in the dark,

And they talk about the state of things with each rehearsed remark.

It seems we’ve heard it all before.

It’s time we had the nerve to ask the only question left

— Whose purpose does it serve?

Just say no to the games they want to play.

Just say no to the platitudes they say.

Let them know we’re not gonna go away.

Just say no, no, no. Just say no.

It’s column A or column B, though there are other choices.

But you did not see them on TV with millions of our voices.

They’ve commandeered the voting process and now we all must pay.

Some will vote their conscience. Others choose to stay away and

Just say no. Say exactly how you feel.

Let them know we demand a better deal.

We will show this time that we are for real.

Just say no, no, no. Just say no.

The media will argue who is winning the debates.

They’ll interview the pundits and dissect the candidates.

But when all is said and done they have nothing to say.

The last thing they would think to do is get out of the way and

Just say no to a world of one or two.

Just say no. We are many. They are few.

Let them know. It’s important that we do.

Just say no, no, no. Just say no.

The Founding Fathers wrote the rules for who we choose to lead us.

Republicans and Democrats have now refused to free us.

We’re allowed to tear it down and start it all again.

To organize without the lies. We can rise, and then

We’ll just say no to the rules that ostracize.

We’ll just say no to the isms and the lies.

We’ll let them know their assumptions were unwise.

Just say no, no, no.

Just say no to the games they want to play.

Just say no to the platitudes they say.

Let them know we’re not gonna go away.

Just say no, no, no. Just say no.
