What Kind of Power . . . ?

What kind of power would trade its soul for oil

And pollutes the atmosphere, its future and its soil?

What kind of power can end the human race

Blasting off plutonium for lasers out in space?

What kind of power?

The same kind of power that thinks it’s above the law,

And lies about the things it’s done as if nobody saw.

The same kind of power that prosecutes its poor,

Destroys the Constitution and declares an endless war.

That kind of power.

But we’ve got the power of the wind,

The power of the sea,

The power of the solar cells, of biomass and trees.

The power of the people

And the strength of you and me.

Our kind of power. That is the power we have.

What kind of power

Kills children’s hopes and dreams

Presented with authority?

It’s not the way it seems.

The same kind of power that

Cheats, steals and connives,

Producing global warming, acid rain and ruined lives.

That kind of power.

But we’ve got the power of the wind,

The power of the sea,

The power of the solar cells, of biomass and trees.

The power of the people.

It is up to you and me to use this power.

To use the power we have. We have the power.

[repeat chorus and end with "To use our power. To use the power we have."]
